John F Kennedy School is a founding member of the Learning in Harmony Multi Academy Trust along with Sheringham Primary School. We joined the Trust confident that a partnership between our school and mainstream would enhance provision and opportunity for our students and staff at JFK and our partner schools.

We have a strong shared belief in our vision to support our young people to achieve the best outcomes through person centred approaches and personalised pathways. We are a school that has an open learning culture, sharing our best practice and supporting our students to participate widely at a curriculum that is enriched, highly individualised and challenging.

JFK School itself offers specialist provision for pupils with special and additional needs based across two sites in Newham. Our capacity is for 110 students in total.

  • Stratford site is equipped and developed to offer specialist provision for up to 60 students from 4 – 19 with sensory and medical needs. This site is equipped with sensory and soft play rooms, hydrotherapy, as well as large classrooms equipped with tracking hoists and outdoor equipment for students who are more independently mobile.

  • Beckton site is equipped and developed to offer specialist teaching and learning for up to 50 students from Yr 6 to Year 14 with autism and communication needs. This site has developed its outdoors space and use of local community facilities to support developing independence and life skills and offers a structured teaching and learning approach.

Our Executive Headteacher, Diane Rochford, is an Ofsted inspector and chaired the national Rochford Review. We have a number of other staff who have the capacity to support both our partner schools within the Trust and other schools through providing training, or SLE/consultancy in specialist areas of SEND.
